What an episode. I regard the first episode of the Book of Boba Fett, Stranger in a Strange Land as the first highlight of the new year. Consider the 1st episode like a date with an old friend. Someone, you have known for the better part of your life but have now taken the next step. Most of it goes great but a few things take you by surprise and leave you questioning why you went. Yet, something tells you inside to stick it out as it will end up being a phenomenal choice.
If you have to have a number I’d give Stranger in a Strange Land a solid 7 out of 10. I’m thrilled as we learn about Boba Fett’s history but the opening first 12 minutes have very little dialogue. That appeals to me as it imitates some of the best classic westerns and it calls back to a few great organized crime films.
The episode takes place between Mandalorian’s season 2 finale Post credit scene where he executes Bib Fortuna who took over upon Jabba the Hutt’s death and after the events of Return of the Jedi when Boba ended up in the Sarlacc pit.
Strap in an enjoy the ride with Boba Fett, Fennec Shand, Tatooine’s underworld of crime lords and the mysterious Tusken Raiders.
